Mary's Gift
Ya hoooo. I've finally finished and packed off Mary's quilted tablerunner and placements. BIL has them in his suitcase and is dutifully carting them them across the continent and half the Pacific to my sweety in Hawaii. So for those who have been patiently waiting... Ta dah.
On another note... The weatherman has officially declared:
"THE END OF THE GROWING SEASON"
We will have our first hard frost this evening with temps dipping below 30 degress F. This means I will have to bring in or protect my tender plants. So, goodbye basil, so long parsley, see ya later sweetpeas, and no more begonias...
THE LAST ROSES
JOSEPH'S LITTLE PUMPKIN
The little guy has been nursing this lonely pumpkin since the wet weather (or whatever) killed off all the others.
Hopefully the aphids will be gone too. The stinkers have reappeared in droves since the Japanese beetles have gone underground.
It was tough getting a clear picture as the wind is still up around here.

The quilt is beautiful! (applauds)
Goodbye, flowers! (sniffles)
Beautiful quilt ! what a lot of work!!
Our weather has been very nice, but it's about to change, but not as drastically as yours, maybe just a little rain...
Nice job on the placemats! People are actually going to eat over them??
Beautiful quilt and garden loot!
Wow, the placemats and tablerunner are so gorgeous!
Hard frost already? I cannot believe it is already mid-September. I love the fall, but I am glad it isn't supposed to be that chilly here quite yet.
@show_me_your_glory - The frost is a gift from Canada. Now that Ike has blown thru, the Canadian High front can push itself south and since we are only 5 - 6 hours south of the Canadian border we too can experience the chill.
@usalapinhazzer - Thanks for the kind words. I think that is what she has planned. She asked for a blue and tan color scheme, conservative, not floral, and something that would be seen in New England. I hope she likes it. (Still haven't heard from her because of the time differential and the fact that she fried her Mother Board over the weekend. lol
The table runner and mats are beautiful...good job!
Wow. I'm totally amazed by that quilt and the other cute squarish ones are to die for. Very lovely. I would be mighty happy with those to tell you the truth. I'm sure she will be too.
And the photos of the flowers, and the cute pumpkin are very beautiful and flirty.
Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful quilt. Working on one for my bed.
@Cynthian73 - Thanks. MK asked for a blue and tan color combo. No, T & Kjr won't be going to Hawaii for a while. They are still looking to buy a new home and they have been saving for the down payment, etc.
@tkperito - I read the blog wrong. after I posted - I realized you said BIL.
Ooh, I like the quilt!
Wow! Beautiful! You are so talented! Bravo!
Yes it is sad, the growing season is over and here Fall is almost gone too we have fresh snow on the mountains ("termination dust" is what we call the first snow showing on the mountains) So soon it will be winter and the roads will be bad and I'll complain about it. LOL
The "last roses" are beautiful!
@Momizzle18 - @MooncatBlue - @Ninasusan - @psychoticfrog - Thanks so much for the compliments. You all are going to give me a big head. My next project is to make 2 crazy quilt blocks in the shape of Christmas trees to be used (along with the other members of the quilting group I attend) to make a tree skirt for the Senior Center's Christmas tree. The Center will auction off the "ornaments" during the annual Christmas party to raise funds for the Center's operation.
@psychoticfrog - we had a frost but I won't know how "hard" it was until tomorrow. I'll have to check out what wilts, lol.
Your handiwork....and photography....are beautiful. Stay warm this weekend!
Very, very nice.
We still have lady bugs out and I saw lots congregating on some leaves, so I think they were doing their job.
